Josh (bassist) stopped over a few minutes ago and I just got my copy of the Western Fifth CD and poster and they look great! Once I get over to the studio (maybe tomorrow) I’ll photograph it to add to the portfolio. CopyCats Media did the pressing and printing and it looks awesome. The band leaves for tour this Wednesday. A fan of Wilco? You all should really check them out! Anyway, that’s all I have to say…

Bye,

The album artwork for Western Fifth’s full-length record is now complete. Woo hoo! The band digs it and I’m happy with how it came out. The record is titled, Stand Like A Thief. I’ve had the opportunity to listen to the entire record and I must say I’m really impressed. It’s a well put together album from beginning to end. Nice job guys!

I’m hearing from the band that they will be touring very soon (mid-August?) and you’ll be able to pick up the album at their shows. Oh by the way, it’s a 4-panel digipak package. They commissioned me to put together an 11×17 artwork poster piece in true Metrofader style to accompany the CD. The poster also has the lyrics printed on it. Cool, eh? Well enough of me babbling. Here is the final artwork…

Western Fifth CD Artwork

Western Fifth Album CoverI’m knee deep in the design of the Western Fifth album artwork. Turns out it’s going to be printed via 4-panel Digipak packaging. And as a nice little touch, they asked me to go nuts and put together an 11×17 full-color poster artwork piece that will be distributed along with the record. What a cool touch for those looking forward to purchasing the physical CD as opposed to downloading the music via iTunes. Plus, I get to go one step further with the dark, brooding theme we’ve got going with the artwork. Neat.

What was cool about the record is that I got to use some of my unused stock photography for the photomanipulated cover. Along with using several old and new photos of mine, I also got the chance to design the new logo. They were looking for a “flourish” detailed style logo. I wanted to add a “Western” feel, since they are sort of an alt Country band, and I think I pulled it off with the decorative type. It looks good and I think the band is happy with it. That’s all that matters, so…..yeah.

Anyway, so here’s a sneak peek at the artwork cover. The band seems to dig it and so should you. You can click on the image to see a bigger version.
